San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said Saturday he is nearly fully recovered from a car crash that has limited him this summer and is ready to coach the team's preseason opener against the Tennessee Titans.
Shanahan, 46, was involved in a car accident in late July while driving to the team's training camp in Santa Clara. He suffered minor injuries and missed a few practices as a precaution, but has been on the sidelines for most of camp.
"I feel good," Shanahan told reporters. "I'm ready to go." He confirmed he will be on the sideline for Saturday's game at Levi's Stadium.
The 49ers are coming off a 6-11 season in 2025, missing the playoffs. Shanahan, entering his ninth season as head coach, has a regular-season record of 68-58 and has led the team to two Super Bowl appearances, losing both.
Shanahan's health is a positive sign for a team with high hopes for the 2026 season, as they look to bounce back from a disappointing year.
