Seven men, all Afghan nationals who came to the UK as refugees, have been charged in connection with a child sexual exploitation investigation in Norwich. The alleged offences took place between August 2023 and May 2025, according to Norfolk Police.
The charges relate to two victims, both in their early to mid-teens at the time of the alleged abuse. The men face a total of 29 charges, including sexual assault of a child, causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and trafficking within the UK for sexual exploitation.
The accused are due to appear at Norwich Magistrates' Court on a date yet to be confirmed. Norfolk Police have said the investigation is ongoing and have urged anyone with information to come forward.
The case has drawn attention to issues of child sexual exploitation and the handling of refugee communities in the UK. Local authorities have emphasized that the alleged crimes are not representative of the wider refugee population.
