The decision, announced on March 21, 2026, follows a review process initiated by the Moroccan Royal Football Federation (FRMF), which had contested the match's outcome.
Senegalese midfielder and captain Idrissa Gana Gueye responded to the ruling by stating the title was "won on the pitch." He emphasized the team's fair play and hard work throughout the tournament, which culminated in their victory over Morocco in the final held in Rabat.
The CAF's judicial body concluded there were no grounds to overturn the result of the match. This ruling definitively confirms Senegal as the official winner of the 2025 AFCON, their second continental title after their 2021 triumph.
