Senegal has been crowned champion of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The Lions of Teranga secured their second continental title by defeating Morocco 2-0 in the final, held at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in EbimpΓ©, Ivory Coast, on February 9, 2025.
The match was decided by two second-half goals. Captain Kalidou Koulibaly opened the scoring in the 70th minute, heading in a corner. The victory was sealed in the 85th minute when IsmaΓ―la Sarr converted a penalty, securing the win for the Senegalese side.
The tournament, originally scheduled for June-July 2025, was moved to a January-February window due to concerns over the West African rainy season. This victory marks Senegal's second AFCON title, following their first win in 2021, and solidifies their status as a dominant force in African football.
