The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has officially filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) regarding the abandoned final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The match, held in Rabat, Morocco, was halted in the 85th minute due to pitch invasions and crowd disturbances, with Senegal trailing 2-1.

CAS has confirmed receipt of the appeal. The FSF is contesting the Confederation of African Football's (CAF) decision to award the match and the trophy to Morocco. CAF's disciplinary board had previously dismissed Senegal's initial protest, citing the regulations that allow for a match result to stand if it is abandoned after the 80th minute due to fan misconduct.

The appeal process is now underway. A CAS panel will be constituted to hear the case, which centers on the interpretation of competition rules and the circumstances surrounding the match's abandonment. No date for a hearing has been set publicly.

This legal action prolongs the controversy that has overshadowed African football since the final on February 9, 2025. The outcome of the CAS proceeding will determine the official winner of the 2025 AFCON tournament.
