The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has officially filed an appeal with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) against its disqualification from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The team was expelled from the qualifiers in March 2026 after fielding an ineligible player during a match against Sudan.

CAF's disciplinary board ruled that Senegal violated player eligibility rules, resulting in the forfeiture of the match. The decision awarded Sudan a 3-0 victory, which altered the qualifying standings in Group B.

The appeal challenges the procedural application of the rules and the severity of the sanction. The FSF argues the player's documentation was submitted and reviewed prior to the match.

If the appeal is unsuccessful, Senegal, the 2021 AFCON champions, will miss the 2025 tournament in Morocco. A final decision from CAF is expected in the coming weeks.
