The Rabat Court of Appeal in Morocco has postponed the trial of several Senegalese football supporters arrested following incidents during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final. The delay, granted on March 30, 2026, was to allow the defense team, which recently incorporated two new lawyers, additional time to prepare their case.

The defendants were apprehended in February 2025 after clashes and celebrations in central Rabat following the AFCON final, where Senegal defeated Morocco. They face charges including participation in an unauthorized demonstration and violence against public officials.

This is not the first delay in the proceedings, which have been ongoing for over a year. The case has drawn significant attention and diplomatic concern, with Senegalese authorities and civil society groups closely monitoring the judicial process and calling for the fans' release.

The court has scheduled the next hearing for April 14, 2026, when the substantive examination of the case is expected to begin.
