The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has announced it will appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) following a decision by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to strip Senegal of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations trophy. FSF President Abdoulaye Fall confirmed the move on Thursday, March 19, 2026.

The dispute stems from CAF's Appeal Board upholding a prior ruling that Senegal fielded an ineligible player during the tournament's final. The governing body has ordered the immediate return of the trophy.

In a statement, President Abdoulaye Fall said the FSF "will comply with the provisions of CAF" regarding the physical return of the trophy but maintains the decision is unjust. The federation argues the player's eligibility was confirmed by all relevant authorities before the tournament.

The appeal to Lausanne-based CAS is the final legal recourse available to the Senegalese federation. The case casts a shadow over what was a historic victory for the Senegalese national team.
