The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has sanctioned Senegal head coach Aliou Cissé. According to official CAF statements, Cissé received a four-match suspension and an undisclosed fine for comments made following Senegal's quarter-final exit from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The disciplinary action stems from post-match remarks in January 2026 where Cissé criticized the officiating. CAF's disciplinary body found his statements to have brought the game into disrepute. The suspension will apply to upcoming official CAF competitions.
This is not the first disciplinary issue for Senegal during the tournament. The Senegalese Football Federation was previously fined for team misconduct during their round of 16 match. The sanctions conclude the major disciplinary proceedings related to Senegal's 2025 AFCON campaign, where they were defending champions.
