The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has formally appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the Confederation of African Football's (CAF) decision to award Morocco the hosting rights for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The appeal was lodged in early 2026, contesting the procedural integrity of CAF's selection process.

CAF announced Morocco as the host for the 2025 tournament in September 2025, following the withdrawal of original hosts Guinea. Senegal, alongside Algeria and a joint bid from Nigeria and Benin, had also submitted candidacies. The FSF's appeal alleges irregularities in the evaluation and voting procedures conducted by CAF's executive committee.

A CAS spokesperson confirmed receipt of the appeal, initiating an arbitration procedure. No timeline for a hearing or decision has been publicly announced. The Confederation of African Football has stated it will follow the legal process but maintains confidence in its original decision.

The outcome of this appeal is critical for tournament planning, as the 2025 AFCON is scheduled for mid-year. If the appeal is upheld, CAF may be compelled to reopen the bidding process, potentially causing significant logistical disruptions.
