Sarawak police commissioner Zainal Abdullah has confirmed that a report was received and an investigation is underway into a district police chief over a sexual harassment claim. The victim, who lodged a police report on May 17, 2026, alleged that the senior officer subjected her to repeated sexual harassment.
The case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code for assault or use of criminal force to a person with intent to outrage modesty. Zainal stated that the police force takes such allegations seriously and will ensure a transparent investigation.
The district police chief has been temporarily reassigned pending the outcome of the probe. No further details have been released to protect the identity of the victim.
