A 58-year-old man from Santee, South Carolina, was killed early Wednesday morning when his tractor-trailer overturned on Interstate 95 in Orangeburg County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 4:30 a.m. on May 27, 2026, near the 145 mile marker. The driver, whose name has not been released pending family notification, was traveling northbound when the truck left the roadway and overturned for reasons still under investigation.
Emergency crews responded to the scene, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and the highway was closed for several hours for cleanup and investigation.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the accident.
