The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially cleared Samuel Eto'o, president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT), of any wrongdoing that could have led to a four-match suspension during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The decision was announced on August 6, 2026, following a disciplinary review.
According to CAF's statement, the investigation found no evidence to support the allegations that Eto'o had violated disciplinary rules during the tournament, which was held in Morocco from December 2025 to January 2026. The potential suspension would have barred him from attending matches and official functions.
Eto'o, a former Cameroon and Barcelona striker, had faced scrutiny after an incident that was reported during the group stage. However, CAF's disciplinary board concluded that the claims were unsubstantiated, allowing Eto'o to continue his duties without restriction.
