Samsung's Device Care app, a built-in tool for managing battery, storage, and security on Galaxy devices, may soon gain a feature to block apps with excessive advertisements. This was reported by Android Authority on May 11, 2026, based on an APK teardown of the latest Device Care update.
The feature, labeled 'Block apps with excessive ads,' would allow users to identify and restrict apps that display disruptive or overly frequent advertisements. The APK teardown revealed strings suggesting a toggle in the settings menu, though the feature is not yet live in the current version.
Samsung has not officially confirmed the feature. The company often tests new capabilities in beta versions before a wider rollout. If implemented, this would add to Device Care's existing functions, which include malware scanning and performance optimization.
It remains unclear when or if the feature will be released to all Galaxy users. Samsung typically rolls out major Device Care updates through its Galaxy Store or via system updates.
