Cricket Australia has confirmed its list of centrally contracted players for the 2026-27 season, with young batter Sam Konstas not offered a contract. The 21-player list, announced on April 1, 2026, includes the core of the team that recently regained the Ashes in England.
Konstas, a 20-year-old top-order batter, made his international debut in late 2025 but has not been retained on the primary contract list for the upcoming busy season. National selector George Bailey stated the list was selected based on expected playing commitments across all formats in the 12-month period.
The contract announcement prioritizes players deemed essential for a schedule featuring Test series against India and England, along with a T20 World Cup defense. Other players, including veteran all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, were also not offered central contracts but remain eligible for match-by-match selection.
