Salmon Arm RCMP seized and destroyed a realistic replica .44 Magnum handgun from a man's waistband on April 4, 2026. Officers responded to a report of a man with a firearm in the 300-block of 3 Street Southwest. Police located the individual and safely removed the replica firearm, which was determined to be a non-firing imitation.
RCMP stated the replica was indistinguishable from a real firearm at a glance, posing a significant risk to public and officer safety. "When police are faced with what appears to be a real firearm, the consequences can be tragic," said Cpl. James Grandy. The man was released without charges after the weapon was seized.
