Abramorama has acquired the North American theatrical rights to the documentary 'Knife: The Attempted Murder of Salman Rushdie,' directed by Alex Gibney. The film, which premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, is set for a US theatrical release in fall 2026.
The documentary explores the August 12, 2022, attack on author Salman Rushdie at the Chautauqua Institution in New York, where he was stabbed multiple times. Rushdie, who lost sight in one eye, survived the attack. The film includes interviews with Rushdie and his family, as well as footage from the event.
Abramorama plans a wide release, with dates to be announced. The acquisition was confirmed on July 15, 2026, by the company.
