NEW YORK (AP) β Jason Zucker scored the tiebreaking goal early in the third period and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 17 saves as the Buffalo Sabres rallied to defeat the New York Rangers 5-3 on Wednesday night.
Zucker slid his 24th goal of the season past Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin to give Buffalo the lead for good. The Sabres had trailed during the game but mounted a comeback to secure the victory on the road at Madison Square Garden.
Luukkonen was solid in net for Buffalo, stopping 17 of the 20 shots he faced to preserve the win. The Finnish goaltender has been a key figure for the Sabres throughout the season.
The victory was an important one for Buffalo as the team continued its push in the standings. The Rangers, meanwhile, suffered a setback at home in front of their Madison Square Garden crowd.
