KYIV, Ukraine — Russian missile and drone strikes on Kyiv and the surrounding region killed 17 people and wounded 44 others overnight into Wednesday, Ukrainian officials said. The attack targeted the capital and its outskirts, causing significant damage to residential areas and infrastructure.
According to the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, the strikes involved multiple waves of missiles and drones. Air defense systems intercepted several projectiles, but debris and direct hits caused casualties and destruction. Emergency services worked through the night to extinguish fires and rescue survivors from damaged buildings.
