On May 3, 2026, Russian forces attacked a civilian car and an ambulance in the city of Kherson, southern Ukraine, resulting in one death and four injuries, according to regional military administration head Oleksandr Prokudin.
The incident occurred in the Dnipro district of Kherson. The ambulance was responding to a call when it came under fire. The deceased was a civilian in the car, while the injured include two medics and two other civilians, all of whom were hospitalized.
Prokudin stated that the attack was carried out using artillery, consistent with recent patterns of Russian shelling in the region. Kherson has been under frequent bombardment since its liberation by Ukrainian forces in November 2022.
Ukraine's Interior Ministry confirmed the attack, noting that emergency services were targeted. The UN has condemned attacks on medical personnel as violations of international humanitarian law.
