On July 21, 2026, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed an executive order extending the temporary visa-free entry policy for Chinese citizens. The order amends Presidential Executive Order No. 872 of December 1, 2025, which originally established the simplified entry procedure.
The new decree extends the visa-free regime until December 31, 2027, allowing Chinese citizens to enter Russia without a visa for tourism, business, or private visits. The policy applies to group tours organized through authorized travel agencies, as well as individual travelers meeting specific criteria.
This extension aims to boost bilateral tourism and economic ties between Russia and China. According to official statements, the measure has already led to a significant increase in Chinese tourist arrivals since its initial implementation in 2025.
