George Russell claimed pole position for the Sprint at the 2026 Canadian Grand Prix, edging out Mercedes teammate Kimi Antonelli by just 0.069 seconds. The Silver Arrows locked out the front row, with McLaren's Lando Norris and Ferrari's Charles Leclerc lining up behind them.
The session took place on the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, with dry conditions throughout. Russell's lap of 1m13.421s was the fastest, while Antonelli's time of 1m13.490s secured second place. Norris was third, 0.112s off the pace, and Leclerc fourth.
Red Bull's Max Verstappen, who leads the drivers' championship, qualified fifth, ahead of teammate Sergio Perez in sixth. The Sprint race is scheduled for later today, with the Grand Prix on Sunday.
