The Indian rupee appreciated by 13 paise to 95.63 against the U.S. dollar in early trade on July 30, 2026, according to forex traders. The rise was supported by gains in domestic equity markets, despite a strong dollar index in international markets.
At the interbank foreign exchange, the rupee opened at 95.63, up from its previous close of 95.76. The domestic currency moved in a narrow range in early deals, reflecting mixed global cues.
The dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, was trading higher at 104.50, up 0.12%. Meanwhile, Brent crude futures, the global oil benchmark, fell 0.34% to $78.45 per barrel.
On the domestic equity front, the 30-share BSE Sensex was trading 245.67 points higher at 82,345.12, while the broader NSE Nifty gained 72.45 points to 25,123.80. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the capital market on Wednesday, offloading shares worth ₹1,234.56 crore, according to exchange data.
