The Fondation Pierre Gianadda in Martigny, Switzerland, opened its new exhibition 'Rodin selon Rilke' on Friday evening, June 26, 2026. The exhibition highlights the works of French sculptor Auguste Rodin and Austrian poet Rainer Maria Rilke, who died 100 years ago in 1926.
According to the foundation's website, the exhibition explores the artistic dialogue between Rodin and Rilke, who served as Rodin's secretary from 1905 to 1906. Rilke wrote extensively about Rodin's sculptures, including a famous monograph published in 1903.
The exhibition features over 100 works, including Rodin's bronze sculptures such as 'The Thinker' and 'The Kiss,' alongside manuscripts and letters from Rilke. It runs until November 22, 2026, as confirmed by the foundation's press release.
This is the first major exhibition in Switzerland dedicated to the relationship between the two artists. The foundation has not disclosed the exact number of visitors for the opening night.
