PROVO — The preliminary hearing for Tyler Robinson has been delayed by about a month and a half, but cameras and microphones will continue to be allowed in the courtroom during his proceedings, Fourth District Judge Tony Graf announced on Friday.
Judge Graf announced the new hearing date of July 2026 during a brief hearing. The delay was granted to allow both the prosecution and defense additional time to prepare. No further details on the reason for the continuance were provided in open court.
The judge also confirmed that media coverage, including still cameras and video recording, will be permitted in the courtroom for the preliminary hearing, consistent with Utah's rules for high-profile cases. The decision follows a prior order allowing such coverage.
Robinson faces charges related to the death of his wife, Kylen Schulte, and her friend Crystal Turner, in August 2021 near Moab, Utah. He has pleaded not guilty. The case has drawn widespread attention due to the nature of the crimes and the remote location of the bodies.
The preliminary hearing is expected to determine whether there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial. No trial date has been set.
