Robby Hoffman, a writer and producer on the HBO series Hacks, revealed that she stormed out of the 2025 Creative Arts Emmy Awards after losing to her co-star Julianne Nicholson. Hoffman made the admission during the June 23, 2026 episode of the podcast The Bald and the Beautiful.
“I was there with my sister and I was the biggest sore loser,” Hoffman recalled on the podcast. She described her reaction as impulsive and embarrassing, noting that she left the ceremony immediately after the category was announced.
The Creative Arts Emmys, held on September 7-8, 2025, honored technical and guest performances. Julianne Nicholson won the award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in Hacks. Hoffman, who also works on the show, was nominated in the same category.
Hoffman’s candid admission has sparked discussion about the pressures of awards season and the emotional toll of public recognition. She later expressed regret for her actions, saying she should have stayed to support her colleague.
