The Boston Red Sox have agreed to a minor league contract with veteran right-handed reliever Tommy Kahnle, a source confirmed to MLB.com on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. The deal, which includes an invitation to major league spring training, has not been officially announced by the club.

Kahnle, 36, is a well-traveled pitcher with 11 seasons of MLB experience, having played for the Colorado Rockies, Chicago White Sox, New York Yankees, and Los Angeles Dodgers. He owns a career 3.64 ERA over 337 relief appearances and has pitched in the postseason for the Yankees and Dodgers.

The move represents a low-risk addition for the Red Sox bullpen. Kahnle missed the entire 2024 season due to shoulder inflammation but returned to pitch 42 games for the Dodgers in 2025, posting a 4.32 ERA. He will compete for a roster spot during spring training in Fort Myers.
