The Tampa Bay Rays have acquired right-handed pitcher Freddy Peralta from the New York Mets, as announced by both clubs on August 3, 2026. In return, the Mets receive outfield prospect Aidan Smith, infield prospect Émilien Pitre, and right-handed pitching prospect Gary Gill Hill.
Peralta, 30, has posted a 3.68 ERA with 145 strikeouts in 132 innings across 24 starts this season. He is under team control through 2027, providing the Rays with a reliable rotation piece as they push for a playoff spot.
The Rays will need to open a spot on their 40-man roster to accommodate Peralta. The team has not yet announced the corresponding move, but it is expected to be made before Peralta joins the active roster.
