The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has confirmed that highly-rated French youth international Rayane Bounida has chosen to represent Morocco at the senior level. The 17-year-old attacking midfielder, who plays for LOSC Lille's academy, had been eligible for both nations.
Bounida, born in France to Moroccan parents, has been a standout for French youth teams, notably captaining the Under-16s. His decision follows a meeting with FRMF President Fouzi Lekjaa and national team coach Walid Regragui, who presented the federation's project for his future.
The player expressed his pride in the choice, stating it was made with his family. The FRMF hailed the decision as aligning with its strategy to integrate talented dual-national players into the Atlas Lions setup.
Bounida is widely regarded as one of Europe's top prospects in his age group. His commitment is a significant boost for Morocco as they build on their recent World Cup success and develop their next generation of talent.
