The police custody of French rapper and singer Gims has been extended, according to information confirmed by Agence France-Presse (AFP) from the National Anti-Criminality Prosecutor's Office (PNAC). The artist, whose real name is Gandhi Djuna, was initially taken into custody on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.
The investigation is being conducted by the Central Office for the Fight against Organized Crime (OCLCO) and concerns allegations of money laundering. The probe is examining financial flows and the origin of funds linked to the artist's activities.
As of Thursday, March 26, 2026, his custody was prolonged. Under French law, initial police custody can last up to 24 hours and may be extended by a prosecutor for another 24 hours, with further extensions requiring authorization from a judge.
Gims's lawyer has not yet made a public statement regarding the extension. The rapper, a major figure in the French music scene and a member of the group Sexion d'Assaut, has not been formally charged at this stage of the inquiry.
