Morocco's insurance regulator, Abdesslam Rahhou, has proposed expanding the criteria used to set car insurance premiums, moving beyond traditional factors like age and vehicle type. The initiative aims to introduce more personalized pricing based on driving behavior and risk profiles.
Rahhou, who heads the Insurance and Social Welfare Supervisory Authority (ACAPS), emphasized that the current system may not accurately reflect individual risk. The proposed changes could include telematics data, mileage, and driving history to calculate premiums more fairly.
The regulator is expected to consult with industry stakeholders before implementing any new rules. The goal is to encourage safer driving while ensuring affordability for low-risk drivers.
