KUALA LUMPUR, May 18 β Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad have resigned as members of Parliament for Pandan and Setiawangsa respectively, effective today.
In a joint statement issued on 18 May 2026, the duo said they had sent letters to Dewan Rakyat Speaker informing him of their resignations. The statement did not provide reasons for the move.
Rafizi, a former PKR vice-president, had held the Pandan seat since 2013. Nik Nazmi, also from PKR, had been MP for Setiawangsa since 2018.
The resignations will trigger by-elections in both constituencies, which must be held within 60 days of the seats being vacated.
