Seafra O'Donovan, a 36-year-old marketing executive at Bauer Media, was arrested following a 'controlled delivery' of herbal cannabis valued at €111,000, which was sent in a parcel from the United States, a court heard.
O'Donovan, who works for the radio network, appeared in court earlier this week charged with drug-related offenses. The arrest was part of an operation involving the controlled delivery of the package, a tactic used by law enforcement to monitor and intercept illegal shipments.
The court was told that the cannabis was discovered in a parcel that had been shipped from the US to an address in Ireland. Gardaí (Irish police) conducted a controlled delivery, allowing them to observe the package's receipt and subsequent arrest of O'Donovan.
Details of the case emerged during a brief court hearing, where O'Donovan was remanded on bail. The investigation is ongoing, and further proceedings are expected.
