Paris Saint-Germain's pursuit of Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, reportedly valued around €70 million, has encountered a significant hurdle. The issue stems from a contractual dispute between the player and his current club, Napoli, regarding an extension clause.
According to reports from Italian media, including Corriere dello Sport, Kvaratskhelia's agent, Mamuka Jugeli, has stated there is a "problem" with the existing contract. The dispute reportedly centers on a clause that would automatically extend the player's deal, which is set to expire in 2027, by an additional two years. Jugeli has claimed this clause is invalid, creating uncertainty around the player's status and complicating any potential transfer.
This contractual impasse has effectively stalled negotiations. While PSG's interest in the Georgian international is well-documented, a transfer cannot proceed until the situation between Kvaratskhelia and Napoli is legally resolved. The club's president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, is known for his tough negotiating stance, making a quick resolution unlikely.
The delay presents a challenge for PSG's sporting planning ahead of the summer transfer window. Kvaratskhelia is seen as a key target to bolster their attacking options, but the club may be forced to explore alternative options if the standoff continues.
