ISLAMABAD, May 08 (APP) — President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday asked Pakistan’s Ambassador-designate to Iran, Muhammad Mudassir Tipu, to work towards further strengthening bilateral relations, with particular focus on trade, people-to-people contacts and facilitation of Pakistani Zaireen visiting holy shrines in Iran.
The president expressed these views during a meeting with the ambassador-designate at Aiwan-e-Sadr, according to a press release from the President’s Secretariat. He emphasized the need to enhance economic cooperation and explore new avenues for bilateral trade between the two neighboring countries.
President Zardari also highlighted the importance of facilitating Pakistani pilgrims visiting religious sites in Iran and called for improving consular services for the Pakistani diaspora. The ambassador-designate briefed the president on his plans to promote bilateral ties.
