Pratt & Whitney, an RTX business, has officially inaugurated a new 140,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in MidParc, near Casablanca, Morocco. The $76 million (approximately 760 million Moroccan dirhams) investment supports the company's expanding commercial and military engine production.
The new site will manufacture critical parts for Pratt & Whitney's GTF (Geared Turbofan) engine family, which powers the Airbus A220 and A320neo families, among other aircraft. It will also produce components for military engines, including the F135 engine for the F-35 Lightning II fighter jet.
The facility is expected to create hundreds of skilled jobs in the region and is part of Pratt & Whitney's strategy to enhance its global manufacturing footprint and supply chain resilience. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Moroccan government officials and company executives.
Pratt & Whitney stated that the Morocco facility will help meet growing demand for its engines and support the company's sustainability goals through advanced manufacturing processes.
