The Timberwolves were without All-Star guard Anthony Edwards, who was sidelined due to a right ankle sprain. The Pistons were missing their leading scorer, Cade Cunningham, who was out with a left knee injury.

Detroit built a 15-point lead in the third quarter and held off a late Minnesota rally. For the Timberwolves, Naz Reid scored 30 points and Rudy Gobert added 17 points and 15 rebounds. The loss dropped Minnesota to a 52-24 record, while Detroit improved to 13-63.
