ISLAMABAD — Pakistan will launch a nationwide anti-polio campaign from May 18 to 24, 2026, targeting nearly 19 million children under five years of age across 79 selected districts, according to the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC).
The campaign aims to protect children from poliovirus, which remains endemic in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Health workers will go door-to-door to administer oral polio vaccine (OPV) drops, following strict safety protocols.
Officials emphasized the importance of community participation to ensure every child is vaccinated. The drive is part of ongoing efforts to eradicate polio, with support from the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF.
Parents are urged to cooperate with vaccination teams and ensure their children receive the vaccine. The NEOC confirmed that all vaccines are safe and effective.
