The Nevada County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Friday, April 11, 2026. Deputies responded to a report of a shooting in the 10000 block of Alta Sierra Drive in the community of Alta Sierra just after 5:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, they found one adult male victim with a gunshot wound. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The sheriff's office has not released the identity of the deceased, pending notification of next of kin.
Authorities stated that this appears to be an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the public. The investigation is active, and no suspect information has been released at this time.
