JAMMU, Apr 20: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday reviewed the ongoing work on the 2.79-kilometre-long Sungal tunnel project on the Jammu-Poonch National Highway. The tunnel is a critical component of the 200-km highway project aimed at improving connectivity in the region.
The review meeting was held to assess the progress and address any challenges in the construction. Officials from the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) and other concerned departments were present.
The Sungal tunnel is designed to bypass treacherous terrain and reduce travel time significantly between Jammu and Poonch. Once completed, it will enhance all-weather connectivity and boost socio-economic development in the area.
Chief Minister Abdullah emphasized the importance of timely completion while adhering to quality and safety standards. The project is part of broader infrastructure development initiatives in the Union Territory.
