Two weeks after the suspension of US tariffs on Moroccan phosphate fertilizers, the OCP Group is preparing to resume shipments to the United States. The decision follows a trade agreement that temporarily lifts duties, allowing OCP to export its products without additional costs.
OCP, the world's leading producer of phosphate rock and fertilizers, had paused deliveries due to the tariffs imposed earlier this year. The suspension, effective from July 5, 2026, is part of a broader negotiation between Morocco and the US to address trade imbalances.
The first cargoes are expected to depart from the port of Jorf Lasfar in the coming days, with a total volume of approximately 50,000 tons. This move is seen as a boost for Moroccan exports and a relief for US farmers who rely on affordable fertilizers.
Industry analysts note that the resumption of shipments could stabilize global fertilizer prices, which have been volatile due to geopolitical tensions and supply chain disruptions. OCP's return to the US market is also expected to strengthen bilateral trade relations.
