Six-time NBA All-Star DeMar DeRozan has agreed to a one-year, $3.9 million deal with the Denver Nuggets, sources told ESPN on Friday. The agreement was confirmed after DeRozan spoke with the Miami Heat, Washington Wizards, and New Orleans Pelicans, but he ultimately chose Denver.
DeRozan, a 16-year NBA veteran, brings scoring and playmaking to a Nuggets team that has been looking to bolster its bench. Last season with the Sacramento Kings, he averaged 23.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game, shooting 48.9% from the field.
The Nuggets, led by three-time MVP Nikola Jokic, are aiming to return to championship contention after a second-round playoff exit last season. DeRozan's veteran presence and clutch scoring are expected to provide a significant boost.
The deal cannot be officially signed until the NBA's moratorium period ends, but both sides have agreed to terms. DeRozan will wear number 10 for Denver, a number he previously wore with the Chicago Bulls.
