CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – A joint military and police operation resulted in the arrest of a wanted female New People's Army (NPA) officer and her Filipino-American companion in Cabuyao City, Laguna, on Thursday, July 30, 2026.
The suspect, identified as Maria Concepcion 'Connie' B. Araneta, was listed as a high-value target with a standing warrant of arrest for rebellion. Her companion, identified as John Doe, a Filipino-American, was also taken into custody for questioning.
According to the report from the Philippine Army's 2nd Infantry Division, the operation was conducted based on intelligence information and a warrant of arrest issued by a local court. Recovered from the suspects were a handgun, ammunition, and subversive documents.
The suspects are currently in the custody of the Cabuyao City Police Station for documentation and proper disposition. The military and police reiterated their commitment to ending local communist armed conflict through lawful means.
