Norma Dumont has questioned whether Amanda Nunes turned down an interim UFC title fight due to 'fear of losing.' The comments come after Kayla Harrison withdrew from her scheduled UFC 324 bout with Nunes in January 2026 due to a neck injury.
Dumont, a Brazilian bantamweight, stated she immediately offered to step in and face Nunes for an interim belt. However, Nunes reportedly rejected the idea. Dumont expressed surprise, suggesting that a champion of Nunes' caliber should welcome any challenger.
In an interview, Dumont said, 'I wonder if she turned it down because she was afraid of losing. I'm not saying she is, but it makes you think.' Nunes has not publicly commented on Dumont's remarks.
The UFC has not announced a replacement opponent for Nunes or confirmed the status of the interim title. Dumont is currently ranked No. 5 in the UFC women's bantamweight division.
