COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Hockey has named Adam Nightingale (Cheboygan, Mich.) as head coach of the U.S. National Junior Team for the 2027 IIHF World Junior Championship. Nightingale currently serves as the head men's ice hockey coach at Michigan State University.
Nightingale has built a strong reputation at the collegiate level during his tenure with the Spartans. Under his leadership, Michigan State has been a consistent competitor in the Big Ten Conference, one of college hockey's most competitive leagues.
The 2027 World Junior Championship will see Nightingale lead a roster of the top American players aged 20 and under. The tournament is one of the most prestigious events in international junior hockey, drawing significant attention from fans and NHL scouts alike.
USA Hockey's selection of an active NCAA head coach continues the organization's tradition of drawing on college hockey's top talent evaluators and bench leaders to guide its junior national program. Nightingale's familiarity with the college hockey landscape is expected to be a key asset in player selection and development heading into the tournament.
