A municipal project in Newmarket, Ontario, has been completed at half its original cost estimate, according to town officials. The project, which involved infrastructure upgrades, came in significantly under budget, a rare occurrence in public works.
The final cost was approximately $2.5 million, compared to the initial estimate of $5 million. The savings were attributed to competitive bidding and efficient project management, said a town spokesperson.
The project was completed ahead of schedule, and the town council praised the work. "This is a testament to the dedication of our staff and contractors," said Mayor John Taylor.
Residents have expressed satisfaction with the outcome, noting the financial prudence. The town plans to allocate the savings to other community projects.
