A new immersive sound and light experience, titled 'Les Γclats du Canal,' has been launched on the Canal du Midi in southern France, according to local tourism officials. The show uses projection mapping and synchronized music to highlight the canal's 17th-century engineering and UNESCO World Heritage status.
The 45-minute journey takes visitors along a 2-kilometer stretch near the Fonserannes Lock, with projections on water, trees, and historic structures. The experience runs nightly from July 1 to August 31, 2026, with tickets priced at β¬18 for adults and β¬12 for children.
Organizers report that the show has attracted over 5,000 visitors in its first two weeks, with positive reviews on social media for its 'magical atmosphere' and educational value. The project was funded by the Occitanie region and Voies Navigables de France.
