French customs and police have seized nearly four tons of drugs in two separate but coordinated operations, according to official sources. The seizures took place at the port of Sète in the Hérault department and in the Val-d'Oise region north of Paris.
At the port of Sète, authorities discovered approximately 3.5 tons of cannabis resin hidden in a container arriving from Morocco. The drugs were concealed among legal merchandise. In a parallel operation in Val-d'Oise, police seized around 400 kilograms of cocaine and cannabis products during raids on several locations.
The operations were part of an ongoing investigation by the French anti-drug office (OFAST). Several suspects have been arrested, though their identities have not been released. The street value of the seized drugs is estimated at several million euros.
These seizures highlight France's role as a transit point for drug trafficking between North Africa, South America, and European markets. The port of Sète has been a focus of customs surveillance due to its strategic location on the Mediterranean.
