The NBA is reportedly investigating the four-year, $64 million contract extension signed by guard Gary Trent Jr. with the Milwaukee Bucks, according to a league spokesperson who spoke to ESPN's Shams Charania on Thursday.
The probe focuses on whether the deal complies with league rules regarding salary cap and player contracts. The NBA regularly reviews contracts to ensure they adhere to the collective bargaining agreement.
Gary Trent Jr., 27, averaged 13.7 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game last season for the Bucks. The extension was announced earlier this month.
Neither the Bucks nor Trent Jr.'s representatives have commented on the investigation. The NBA has not provided a timeline for the review.
