Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University (SRTMU) in Nanded, Maharashtra, has halted Bachelor of Science (BSc) admissions at 24 affiliated colleges for the academic year 2026-27, citing inadequate infrastructure and faculty shortages.
The decision, announced on June 22, 2026, follows inspections that revealed non-compliance with university norms, including lack of laboratory equipment and qualified teaching staff. Affected colleges are primarily in rural areas of Nanded district.
University officials stated that the move aims to maintain academic standards and ensure students receive proper education. The ban will remain until the colleges rectify the deficiencies and pass a re-inspection.
Students who had applied to these colleges are being redirected to other affiliated institutions with available seats. The university has set up a helpline for queries.
